I recently looked at our local newspaper and saw an add that had the heading “Get up and play. An hour a day.” It showed several atheletes on the picture of the ad. They provide a link to www.smallstep.gov This website has all kinds of links to outdoor activities and diet suggestions as well as an activity tracker.
As I viewed this add I thought, this is really good. I am already pretty active physically and plan to increase my fitness level.
I thought about yesterday’s article “I’m the go to guy.” It discusses a person’s reputation, their public message and their personal marketing campaign. Since, I plan to increase my outdoor activity level, I should start documenting these activities better. I have decided to do more blogging about my outdoor adventures along with pictures.

I just wanted to say thanks for sharing this Wes. Your article motivated me to get up and walk. I now not only “play” an hour a day but walk every day with a pedometer on. I am averaging 12,000 to 15,000 steps per day without the major effort I “thought” it would be.
There are lots of easy and creative ways to add more steps. Park the car farther. Leave your drink in the kitchen and make yourself go get it. Go out and play ball with your dog – better yet, take him/her to the park. Take a walk in the evenings when there is cool breeze. Again, thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome. Your suggestions are all very good ideas. Another idea is to have an accountability partner. Someone who will make sure you stay on track with your exercise program. Better yet, someone who is both your accountability partner and your exercise partner. Then you’re both more likely to stick with it.
I have a walking partner that I meet with once a week. We remind each other when it’s the day to walk. It sure makes it more enjoyable when you have someone to exercise with.
