Phishing for your Social Network passwords

I received a Phishing email the other day. Phishing is pronounced like “Fishing”, unlike the time honored activity of trying to catch a fish, phishing is the attempt to fool a person into revealing their personal information.

Believe it or not, there are websites devoted to sharing information on how to phish. These websites contain all kinds of information needed to successfully phish for information.  They contain posts about everything phishing related from creating a phishing website to sending official looking emails. Their intent is to trick unsuspecting users into giving up their passwords or personal information.

Windows 7 has been released, what are your plans?

When Vista was released, many Windows XP users resisted assimilation.  Microsoft tried to force Windows XP into an early grave. Then recanted as businesses resisted due to many issues that I won’t cover in this post.  Most people who did upgrade later wished they had avoided all the headaches.

I learned something new today

I have learned a new lesson related to my craft. Apparently, some websites practice what is called website scraping. This is where they grab your content and then republish it as their own.  Yesterday, I posted “9 ways to keep your mind sharp“.  On that very same day, another site took my post and posted it on their website.  No mention of my name, just a Read More link that pointed to my post.  I discovered this post because of this thing called a pingback.
